In this important foundation module, you'll set your inner compass and learn what really makes a retreat a retreat. Then you’ll delve into your core values, your big why and lay out your grandest retreat dreams. Lastly, you'll get a confidence tune-up and start building your "know, like, and trust" factor.

Module Two: Learn the Rules of the Road

As with any business endeavor, leading retreats has risks. In this module, I’ll walk you through all the things you’ll need to consider to cover you, your business and your assets. We'll talk about your business structure, insurance needs and seller of travel laws. I’ll even give you a copy of my customizable retreat attendee agreement and explain it in detail.

Module Three: Map Your Route

In module three, you’ll bring your ideal client into focus and understand what makes him or her tick. Then I’ll help you narrow down your many gifts and talents and decide which you'll share on your retreat. Next up, we’ll scour the planet for your perfect destination and venue and choose a tantalizing theme and title for your retreat. I'll even teach you how to be a savvy negotiator!

Module Four: Assemble Your Team

Module four explores the idea of having co-facilitators and assistants join you on retreat. We'll discuss your options when considering VA's, volunteers, interns, speakers, guest teachers and affiliates. We also cover hiring interpreters, photographers and other service providers at your destination.

Module Five: Plan Your Experience

In this module, I’ll help you decide what to include in the price of your retreat. I’ll teach you how to design a retreat-friendly curriculum, complete with fun learning exercises and how to choose interesting activities and adventures that align with your program. Lastly, you’ll learn how to create a day-to-day itinerary that has the perfect balance of activity and down-time.

Module Six: Create Your Budget

In module six, I’ll show you how to create a detailed budget using our custom pricing spreadsheet. Then I’ll teach you how to find your pricing “sweet spot” and how to offer enticing discounts and incentives and still make a profit. Finally, you’ll learn how to monetize your retreat before, during and after.

Module Seven: Prepare For Your Guests

In this module, we get all set up and prepared to register your guests. You’ll learn which forms you’ll need, what to include, and how to design them. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of vetting people through an application process. I’ll teach you how to follow up once someone is registered and what to include in the new registrant packet. 

Module Eight: Start Your Marketing Engines

There are a lot of things to consider when preparing to market your retreat. It all starts with juicy copy and a stunning sales page. In this module, we’ll delve into the science behind selling anything and then take your future attendee on a hero’s journey. You'll not only learn how to write copy that converts, I’ll show you how to “wireframe” your retreat sales page using the perfect balance of words, images and white space.

Module Nine: Put the Pedal to the Metal

There’s nothing worse than planning an amazing retreat, only to hear crickets when you start to market it. That’s why it’s so important to put strategies in place as soon as possible. In this module, I’ll teach you how to build your tribe with Facebook, create a retreat-focused freebie and design a series of follow-up emails to keep your subscribers engaged.

Module Ten: Get Ready For Your Adventure

In this module, I’ll teach you how to finalizing your arrangements, tweak your itinerary and curriculum, and gather all the necessary supplies. I’ll help prepare your attendees with a pre-retreat call and remind you what to pack for your journey ahead.

Module Eleven: Arrive At Your Destination

Congratulations...you’ve made it to your retreat! In module eleven, we cover all the things you’ll need to do when you arrive at your destination. Everything from meeting with venue contacts, to sourcing out local supplies and gifts, to setting up your welcome space. I’ll teach you how to set expectations and maintain boundaries and deal with any “detours” that might come your way.

Module Twelve: Unpack From Your Journey

Just because you’re home from your journey doesn’t mean your job is done. In this module, I’ll teach you how to reconcile your retreat numbers, get feedback from your attendees, and follow up with promised resources. You’ll learn how to keep the happiness flowing and the sales conversations ongoing. Finally, you’ll review the entire process, make some tweaks and start planning your next retreat. Let’s go!
